Marvin Williams - Indigenous Planning Facilitator Report

I had a chance to do some genealogy that was requested by the members, doing updates for eulogies and also for the main office for children that are in foster care, so that they can learn who they are and where they come from. I am also going through the documents that we collected in Vancouver and Victoria, this information will be very important for future negotiations on specific claims. And as for the digitization of past tapes, we haven’t had any tapes digitized lately; we are planning to start that up again soon. We did go to the UBC in Vancouver to discuss training on digitization, and we also took a tour that included viewing a long house and the library that contained information of all the first nations in B.C. including the Lake Babine Nation.  We also had a couple of sessions with the youth of the Lake Babine Nation, on March 10, 2014 we went to Granisle (Babine elementary school) to do a presentation to the youth of Tachet and Granisle, and on March 24,2014 we had a youth planning session, getting ready for a youth forum in June of 2014. On March 20, 2014 we went to Fort Babine to do a community meeting, and we are only left with Smithers, Tachet and Donald’s/Pinkut for community meetings. We ended the month to witness the ITA signing by Chief Adam and Deputy Chief Alec, a signing that has been in the works for quite some time. And that concludes my report for the month of March.
