Treaty and the LBN Health - Youth
We had guest speakers come out and share with our kids. Marilyn Alec spoke about the potlatch system and how we enter woman hood. She spoke about the rites of passage and how powerful we were at this point in our lives. She shared her own story and what her grandmother taught her about respecting her body and how to take care of herself. Gina Erickson also came out and talked to the kids about respect and honor for ourselves and others around us. She used a feather as a talking stick to teach us to be mindful of others when speaking and listen when others are sharing. The kids really enjoyed the lessons taught by our community knowledge holders.
